Saswati Sen

An exemplary disciple of Guru birju Maharaj, Swasti Sen is a front ranking kathak dancer. She was initially trained by Reba Vidyarthi at Kathak Kendra, Delhi and now serves the institution as the lead dancer of its repertory.

Saswati Sen embodies in her art the traditional knowledge and creativity of her guru. She excels in Nritta and displays sensitivity in her abhinaya. With considerable experience of performance both in group and solo presentations, she has acquired a comprehensive grasp over the intricacies of the dance style. She is featured regularly in prestigious dance events and has participated in the Festivals of India in USSR, U.K., Frnace, Japan and Germany. As a senior member of the Production Unit of Kathak Kendra, she has been closely associated with its experimental and choreographic works.

Saswati Sen is a recipient of the Sanskriti Award.
